If I485 is denied, can I go back to NIW field and work again?

I'm planning to change job which is not exactly in the same field with the one used in NIW application,I was told if my I485 is denied for this reason, I may go back to work in previous NIW field, and the petition is effective again. Is it true?
Any expert please help. Thanks a lot.
