can I leave US while H1 pendin

the company will file H1b petition for me in May,but after a few months' work in US,I have to go back to China to work for this company for another a few months,then come back to US before Oct,then may go to China again---.

1.Can I go back while H1B is pending?

2.If my application will be terminated automatically due to my departure,how about I file the petition as an applicant out of States?
