Thanks XBT, My situation is I will get laid off after I get GC.

But the time between getting the GC(The real plastic)and laid off will be less than 6 months. Would that be safe? Or should I wait they laid off me first? Or find job first then resign before the laid off and ask a letter to explain the possible laid off? Thanks.
