First, Let's hope 1. the retro will not be too much, maybe only few months
2.They still accept your 485, but will not process it

Even in the worst case:
you can not t 485--U can keep it and use it later...
and you can still enjoy your life

Think about the good stuff you have:
A nice Hu*****and with decent job, A nice house( $800K), a future kid, I guess you are pretty young too....A lot of people don't have those yet...You are lucky:)
I've seen so many people lost their job and being out of status; Ph.Ds have not job.....So, Be strong...
