Ask XiaoBaiTu and other XBT, is it a good time to file tax retur

I am filing I-485. I found a mistake in my 2005 tax return when I filed my 2006 return. Is it a good time to file an amendment. How does USCIS check tax returns? What do they look for ? Thanks a lot.
