Urgent! Please help. Will ting I-485 affect son's F1 applicaton?

This is a question that my friend asked me to post here. Please help!
His family is preparing for I-485 applications. His 21 year-old-son just ted F1 application months ago and F1 has not been approved yet. They plan to his son's I-485 applicaton also. Just wonder does their I-485 applications have confilt with the boy's F1 application? What would they do?
