請教小白兔, TN --> EAD

My TN will be expired on 08/15/2007. currently I will file I-485 with my hu*****and. and the lawyer told me that I can't continue to work after 8/15/2007 until I got my EAD.
1.How can talk to my employer?
2.how long does it take to get my EAD?
3.Is the lawyes' comment correct?
