Get F1 visa before you came.

Normally, if you don't indicate your intention to study during your visa application/interview you cannot change status to F1. Once they approved your B visa, they'll put a note indicating you might study in US, then it's OK to change to F1 status. Otherwise, just apply for F1 visa.
