I waited for more than a year.
Check the processing date on www.uscis.gov. If the I-140 processing date for your category is a month after your priority date, then you or your lawyer can send a written inquiry to USCIS, or call customer service.
I did that, and my 140 was approved within 2 weeks after the inquiry.
