I assume that your current status is H4, not H1. If that is the case and your current visa on your password is H4, you should be able to return US with the H4 visa.

Also, if your current status is H4, and your H1B application is pending, then you are not in H1B status yet. You can I-485 inside US while H1B is pending. After your H1B approval, your status in US become H1B and you do not need to travel to outside US to active it.

If you got H1B approval and you ted the I-485 submission, you can travel outside USA with valid H1B visa, without the Advanced Parole. (AP not needed with valid H1B visa!)
