1. the petition is still good, but the change of status should be considered as abandonment. Which means, if approved, the top part of I-797 is good, the bottom part I-94, if attached, is technically invalid.
2. if L2 is valid, EAD can be renewed indefinately.
3. yes, but H1-I94 that comes with I-797 is invalid. Only the L2-I94 you get everytime at reentry is the valid I-94. The last entry before 10-1, you should get H1 visa stamp abroad and enter US to get a new and valid H1 I94.
