You are right. If F-1 uses EAD (from I-485 application), he/she will lose the status of F-1 and become Adjust Status. But I have another question. Can he/she transfer the Adjust Status to other visa status? For example, apply for H-1 visa after using of EAD, during the I-485 pending.
