Right, I didn't hire a lawyer after doing research for cases in

All WOM cases filed by Chinese in my region seemed successful. And my case was strong.

So I went ahead and filed WOM without a lawyer. After getting the delivery record from USPS, I called the local US Attorney. He was easy going and directly told me he would work with FBI and USCIS, and asked me to call back later if I didn't heard anything in one month.

3 weeks later, I received the GC.

I think talking to the local US Attorney is the key. If according to the conversation, he/she tells you they won't give u a hard time, no need to hire a lawyer. Otherwise, you still have lots of time and chances to hire a lawyer later if necessary.

So no worry.
