is it ok if there is a gap between the first 3 years' h1 expiration date and the following extension date?

say, h1 will expire in June (with current employer), and the new employer will extend my h1 starting from July, one month gap.

or we are required to start the extension from the expiration date of the last h1?

(140 approved, and 485 pendign over 180 days).
