EAD and 1099

My I-485 is pending and I am the principal applicant. I just got EAD approval. I am currently in H-1B status --I don't want to change the current job but it will be great to have a part-time job. Can I work on 1099 as an independet contract or I have to use W-2 or get another H-1B?
