FBI Name check

Generally, how long does it take for FBI to finish the name check? My case has been in the hand of FBI for serval months, does anybody know what I can do to speed up the process? Does anybody know how to contact FBI to quiry my case and will that help? I heard that contacting local senator can help. I am in Northern Califonia, does anybody know which senator should I contact?
