I had to go back to Canada to get my photo retaken for my maple card. In my case, the background color didn’t matter much. What mattered was the vertical measure from the top of my head to my chin. It’s really hard to say. Most photo shops don’t understand Canada has a different requirement for passport photos. Just do the best you can to meet the requirement. If you are not lucky, you just have to go back to redo it.
