You are both petitioner and beneficiary for self-sponsored application such as NIW and EB1-a

For employer-sponsored application such as Eb1-b and EB2/EB3-Perm, petitioner is your employer and you are beneficiary.

Your supervisor can help you to prepare EB1-a petition letter by using "I" instead of "He/She or Dr. XXX".
