I don't get the point

green card is good enough, why would anyone bother to get the citizenship for this price?
On the other hand, green card holder can apply for citizenship just after at most 5 years, and it's almost gauranteed, why not simply wait for 5 years?
I really don't understand why people would join the army simply for citizenship.
