My wife's citizenship application had been stucked in the name check for 1.5 years. We hired a lawyer and sued the FBI last month. We even get a court order to ask FBI to expediate my wife's name check process. By spending around $500 (the laywer fee), Within less than one month, the name check was cleared and my wife gets his citizenship.

Two monthes ago. I told this story to one of my friends who was applying GC, but stucked in name check for around 8 monthes. He immediately hired a lawyer and filed a lawsuit. the day before yesterday, he received his GC approve notice.

Conclusion: Filling a law suit really helps to expediate the name check. If every victim starts to do this, it can also help to push FBI to change their current slow system.
