Name Check, True or false?

I made an inquiry, and got a letter from CIS saying that my I-485(1b; PD 06,2005) is waiting the results of security checking. I am curious if every body get the same respone when a request for status check is made. I am trying to reason out whether this is just an excuse of CIS for the delay. Does any one has the same experience? Thanks
