H1B transfer

Hello, everyone!

Could anyone answer the following questions for me?

1. I am working in a consulting company A using OPT (valid until May 2007). Company A applied H1B for me, which will be effective on Cot. 1 2006. What is my status now?

2. If I go to work for another company B before Oct. 1, 2006, can I do h1B transfer? my concern is that I never use H1B before transfer. I am afraid it is too late to apply for a new H1B now.
