personal opinion: there is no perfect choice.

you would probably feel better if you file your wife's 485 together with you and at the same time file 765 for her. she should be able to finish her study with ead, whatever it is. Apparently you gonna take the issue of 140 approval, which is generally not an issue for most of us.
