H1B pending

My current H1B expires on June 30, 2006. Application for new H1B has beend submitted, but has bot been approved. I want to submit my I-485 since my PD is current. Questions:

1. Can I sumbit my I-485 with a close to expire H1B visa?

2. I do have the H1B receipt, can I use this?
