In 2001, I was laid off 3 weeks after my green card was approved. My green card was approved on June 1 during the interview, and I was laid off on June 20. I was a senior manager in international business at a Fortune 100 company before I was laid off.
It took me one year and half to find another job, because of the difficult market after Sept.11.
In Nov. 2002, I got my current job with an insurance in Finance. It is very different from my previous job. I have been promoted to director after a year on the job.
I am not applying for citizenship. I know I will tell the truth about my layoff and one and half year without a job situation. I will tell only the truth. But I wonder if it would be a problem that I was laid off 3 weeks after my green card was approved.
Any ideas?
