1. Do you still keep your old passport ?
It is up to you.

2. Is new one the same passport number as the old one ?
No. However there is an "Observations" page bearing inforation about your previous passport number.

3. Can I still keep old one on hand while they
processing new one ?
No. You submit it to the Consulate during processing.
