How to use EAD in school?

I am a student with my I-485 pending. (I came as F-1 and filed I-485 as a dependent. My wife’s I-140 has been approved.) I plan to use AP to go back China this April for about 30 days. I still need to work in the campus after I come back.

I have already obtained my EAD. Should I contact the international office in the school to update my information or I can just leave it alone? What are the consequences for doing that?
