Normally you need to go back to China if you hold Chinese passport that's what I did last year. I was trying to get my J-1 visa in Calgary, but they just rejected my application and told me that they are not in the best position to exam my social ties or whatever.So don't wast your time and money, get a plane ticket and fly home, but before that, don't forget to make an appointment with the US embassy.
