Thanks lot, sdfsdfsdff!!

I was wondering what would happen if I cannot find a job asap, the market is not that good for my major now. What if I find a job in late April and my lay-off date is in late March? I heard in that case my H-1B would be out of status the day I am laid off. Can I just stay because of adjustment of status? When I get the EAD at the end of March, is it ok that I start to work for another employer 20 or 30 days later? How long a gap would be acceptable?
