Immcanada, questions about Canadian tax return

Hello, I am studying in US and holding a F1 visa now. On February 2005, I landed in Canada, left my friend's address, came back. Currently I am living in US now. Since I only plan to use the Canadian Maple card as a backup without the intention to apply for Canadian citizenship, do I need to file canadian tax return? If I do not file the canadian tax return, is it going to generate any bad effect for my US GC application?
