回複：I renewed H1,now laid off, can I switch to F1

Theoretically, you can switch to F1 and switch back to H1 if the total period of H and L status doesn't exceed 6 years. Pratically, it maybe difficult to switch to F1 because you are out of status since last week and it would have negative impact on changing status and GC application in future if you don't leave within 10 days except you can get an I-20 within these 1 days.

I would suggest you leave US ASAP and apply for F1 visa in China.
