if you are lucky, you may get your checking done within a month, as did for most of F1s nowadays. The fastest was in 2 weeks; but it is holiday season now in the US.

It is your responsibility that you have your passport renewed before travel, such as your case. 6 months is not enough, go to the place where your passport issued to find out how to renew.
