Green card application for F1 spouse

Hi,

I am an H1b worker considering applying for a green card.
My wife is currently an F1 student.
My question is that if I apply green card together with her, will
she lose student visa extension and OPT?
I am wondering it is possible that I apply first to get I-140 done,
then adding her for I-485 later. Is this a reasonable way? Thanks
