1) file I-485, get receipt
2) receive FP notice, do FP.
3) Name check, crime record check, background check.
These checks will be performed separately at the same time.

4) All the checks need to be cleared.
5) Once your priority date is reached, then you may be approved.

As long as your I-485 is pending, AP and EAD can be applied and renewed separately.
