H1B status is not equal to H1b visa

generally, it is NOT recommended to travel when you have pending applications, especially during status change.

While obtaining a H1B status in the US will allow you to work legally, you need to have H1B visa in order to travel.

I don't think your F1 status will be valid if your H1b application is approved while abroad. If such is the case, then you will have to apply for a H1b visa before coming back to US.
