probably you are right

they didn't help much on personal statement or recommendation letters.
you have to do the writing all by yourself - they just give "suggestions".
they do write the cover letter, but the majority of it is just copy of the recommendation letters that you write.
But I guess most the lawyers do it the same way, right?
And you are right that they are not friendly.
