question about 485 filing

Is it possible to file I485 now? Do I need to wait until the processing date comes (say 2007) to file I485? I am not sure which processing date I should look at, is it I485 processing date, or the general employement based GC processing date? It looks like that USCIS is also processing I485 submitted in this September. Thanks a lot for anwering my question.
