going back to china using AP vs. H1

I have both H1 and EAD and my I-485 is pending. I am thinking of going back to china for vacation using AP, but my lawyer advices that using H1 is safer to come back into US. Does any one here know any danger of coming back in using AP? I've seen many people using AP to enter back into US and really don't want to go through the trouble to get the H1 visa stamped on the passport...I might have to go to Canada for that. Thanks for any help!!!
