question on aging out. Thank you for your answers

My son is 16 years old and he will be aging out five years later. Does anyone know whether a child I-485 is normally approved first before parent's ones in case a visa number is available within five years? I do not care much about my own one because I can wait for 10 or 20 years or I do not need it anymore some times later.
