The answer is YES, and you do not need to get a new H1-B neither. Here is my experience: I started to work for company A in July, 2001, some of my coleges applied for LC on Sep 2001. However, Complay A was purchased by Company B at the end of 2003. All the H1-B in Company A were rehired by Company B. We still hold the same H1-B visa that was sponsored by Company A, and my two coleges got LC approved on July 2004. They also got GC on July 2005. As I know, the lawer of my company send some document to the labor department of New Your state. The lawer of your new company should know how to hanld it. By the way, I am in New York State.
