I read the link three times and my understanding is :
1. I can stay in H-1 status if I come back with AP and continue to work for my current employer.
2. I can still extend H-1 if needed after I come back with AP. And if the extension peition is granted by the Service, then I am considered as staying in H-1B status during the period between date of arriving US with AP and the date of extension being granted.
