Status Issue

I was employed and using my OPT under F – 1 status. It will be expired January, 2006. I don’t have H-1B visa and I am filing I-140 and I-485 concurrently based on EB - 2. During my case is pending, I don’t know whether I need to keep a valid status (such as F – 2 or H-1B). Your answer will be greatly appreciated.
