Can I file I-485? Thanks a lot

I filed I-140 under EB2 NIW several months ago and have not heard anything after received RD. Can I file I-485 and send the package out before 9/30 without approval of I-140? If so, should I mention that I filed I-140 with RD? What else should I say? If so, are medical examination 693 form and G325A the only Forms I need to include together with I-485? And write a check $385 including $315 for I485 and $70 for finger print?
