Some people said that there was no transportation in LA. I felt weird about that. Do you know whether there is direct bus from the airport to Hope Street?

I checked online and found some hotels near Hope street, such as Holiday Inn, Kawada, etc. All around $90 USD pernight. I need to be there for 2 nights, too expensive for me... Do you suggest any other places nearby? Is motel safe?
