I think most people would agree that "junk carb" is bad for health. And for more reasons than just its effect on triglycerides. What I have understood so far is that carb has a direct impact on insulin which is a storage hormone directing the conversion of excess glucose into triglycerides.

So are there "good" carbs? Yes I believe so. How much good carb can a person handle without running into obesity or high triglycerides? That's where the individualization comes in. That's why I think testing and self monitoring is important. Different people have a wide range of metabolic characteristics. Also cultural practices are very diverse: there are traditional diets that are mostly plant based and there are traditions that are very heavily meat-based. Another important factor for me is practicality and sustainability. When I try to figure out what to eat for health, I have to take a hard look at myself and know what I can do long term

What I am curious now is this: because of your weight loss and big triglycerides drop, I would expect your total cholesterol and especially LDL to have dropped as well but what about your HDL? Did that change at all?
