if you didn't choose to format your backup HD during installation, your files are safe.
"Primary 0 drive not found" means you mobo can't find your IDE0 HD either a bad cable, bad IDE socket, or bad HD. You can actually put your HD on secondary IDE and try to boot again.If you MOBO is not too old, you can do that. Before startup, go into bios to see if you can see the HDs on your secondary IDE.
