Sticking in your WinXP cd, let it get to "Welcome to Setup", select "R" for Recovery Console. When you get to the point where it asks for Administrator password, type it in and hit Enter, or just hit Enter if you have no password.

At the prompt, type "chkdsk /r" (w/o quotes), and let Recovery Console do it's thing. When finished, either hit CTRL/ALT/DEL or type "exit" and hit Enter.
