Can't install plugins

Updated Firefox to 1.0.4 today. Allthe plugins don't work. Tried to install shockwave and flashplayer more than three times, all failed. I selected firefox 1.0.4 as the browser to install during the installation. Firefox keeps telling me need to install additional plugins when there is a .swf files.

Please help! I love firefox, but the plugin drives me nuts!!!
