Connect your cd drive as slave with your current drive on the primary hard disk controller and then on secondary hard disk controller connect your data disk as master.

If you use mobile racks, then setting both hard disks as masters has the advantage of swapping the racks when one of them having problem of booting. Of course you have to install the operating system on both disks to get this advantage.
