Solution 2 sounds more modern!

Any downside compared with Solution 1?

I don't think 自己架鍋 is that difficult. I've done it and if you know the parameters it can be quite simple. Especially if you have the right tools like a pair of walkie-talkies or signal strength meter and a basic compass. I have most of the equipment, but need the card and/or the software. This is gonna be quite fun!
